Emmy-nominated producer, TV series creator and best-selling author Jerry Biederman and Emmy-nominated producer Chris Dane Owens teamed up in October 2000 to form Biederman/Owens Entertainment . Their company was discovered by former William Morris agent Ben Silverman ("Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" "Big Brother," "Survivor").
To date, Biederman/Owens Entertainment has created more than 200 concepts for reality/alternative series and attained multiple offers and option deals from major outlets, studios, syndicates, and showrunners, including Lifetime, Animal Planet, Buena Vista Television, Lions Gate, KingWorld, Tribune, Twentieth Century Fox Television, DME, LMNO Productions, Gavin Polone/Pariah, Cosgrove-Meurer, Phil Gurin, Mandalay Entertainment, Dick Clark Productions, and Mark Wolper (The Wolper Organization / Warner Bros.).
Their current primetime series, the Emmy-nominated "Instant Beauty Pageant" (created and executive produced by Jerry Biederman and Chris Owens in partnership with Mark Wolper, The Wolper Organization / Warner Bros.) can be seen on Style Network (now in its third season).
The company’s first on-air success was “Who Gets The Dog?” on Animal Planet. It was the biggest advertising draw in the network’s history.
Biederman/Owens Entertainment has development relationships with many of the major broadcast networks, cable channels, syndicates and production companies.
Biederman/Owens Entertainment has acquired a number of fiction and nonfiction books for both reality and scripted adaptations, including the original screenplay, Gabriel's Gift; Earth Angels (Broadway Books / Random House); The Andreasson Affair and The Watchers (Bantam); and Secrets of a Small Town (Dell), which was produced as a pilot for Fox. At present, they have a 14-project miniseries/motion picture deal with Warner Bros. in association with The Wolper Organization (the largest best-selling book acquisition in the company's history).
